Benjamin Dovey is a London based Musical Director and Pianist, he has recently graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under the guidance of Mikhail Kazekevich.

Benjamin is an accomplished all round musician with a variety of skills to offer including Musical Direction, solo piano recitals, lounge piano, arranging, backing track production, private tuition and accompaniment.

Since his early years Benjamin has played in a huge variety of musical ensembles, from touring Austria with Leicestershire Arts Symphonic Wind band, to playing at Demontfort hall in a rock/pop ensemble on keys.   Playing in so many groups, watching and learning from the various conductors, he developed his musical knowledge and his interest in Musical Direction.

He joined Future Faces, a Musical Theatre school, at age 16, by 17 he was employed part time, teaching the junior school and assisting the Musical Director Greg Bentick with the senior shows.  By being part of the shows themselves and being involved with the creative process, he quickly realised that Musical Theatre was something he was very passionate about.

At his time at Trinity, while working towards his degree in Classical Piano, Benjamin Musically Directed shows “Slice of Saturday Night”, “Spring awakening” a new TIE musical “Superhero” (see Shows), "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" "The Producers" and most recently "Sweeney Todd" at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, this achieved 4 and 5 star reviews and the band was highly commended.

"From the first bar of music, a beaming grin spread across my face. They have given the thought, the effort and the money to make this a quality production. The live orchestra (Musical Director Benjamin Dovey) are excellent, allowing the cast to flow with the delights of words and music."  "Ethereal Theatre present the best musical at the Fringe this year!"  *****

A keen composer and lyricist, Benjamin is currently working with Writer and Director Daniel Berridge on a musical adaptation of Jerome K. Jeromes "Three Men In a Boat" with plans for a first performance in winter 2019

In 2015 Benjamin worked with Claire Habbershaw, a fellow Trinity Laban Student, and together they started the "Actor Musician Society" an opportunity for Musical theatre students to help musicians with their acting and vice versa.   They put on a production of Spring awakening in March 2016 (see shows).
